Customer story: Aire Valley Catering

Following on from my recent post about inherited Access databases and business systems, I wanted to share the first customer story we’re using in our website refresh. One of the most common misconceptions we encounter is that older systems eventually need ripping out and starting again. In reality, the best outcome is often to understand what’s there, stabilise it, and improve it over time.

That’s exactly what we’ve done with Aire Valley Catering. Over many years, we’ve worked together to support and develop the systems behind their field service operation. Rather than embarking on a disruptive replacement project, the focus has been on continuous improvement: moving to Azure cloud, improving mobile applications for engineers, enhancing reporting and compliance processes, introducing customer-facing mobile apps, and creating a clear roadmap for future development. The result is a platform that has evolved alongside the business while continuing to support day-to-day operations.

This example reflects the reality of most successful software projects. Very few businesses benefit from throwing away years of investment and starting again. More often, success comes from understanding the existing system, solving today’s problems, and making gradual improvements that deliver real value over time.

As we’ve been refreshing the website, we’ve been documenting customer stories like this one. They show that system modernisation isn’t always about replacement. Sometimes it’s about having the right partner to help a business keep moving forward.
