- Client
- Bolt & Nut Manufacturing
- Sector
- Engineering & Manufacturing
- Outcome
- Production data captured at source, live jobs visible across the factory, and management information without manual reporting
- What we do
- Production tracking, barcode scanning, mandatory CNC data entry, Crystal Reports and Excel exports, added to the existing system
The situation
Bolt & Nut produces fasteners and precision components, and manufacturing generates a lot of data. Stock, materials, certificates, live jobs and compliance all have to be recorded and found again.
As the business grew, the team needed to see live work across the factory, get accurate stock positions and produce reports without someone building them by hand. Management also needed simple ways to pull information out of the system and look into it.
On the shop floor
We extended production tracking so live jobs can be seen across the factory, not only by whoever booked them in. Barcode scanning lets work be tracked as it moves, which removes a layer of re-keying and the mistakes that come with it.
In the CNC area, the important details are now mandatory and recorded as part of the workflow, at the point the work is done. That’s the main reason the reports further down the line can be trusted.
Reports from the same data
A new set of Crystal Reports covers stock, certification, production activity and performance. Staff can look back at stock positions, follow material usage, reconcile stock against finance records and produce compliance reports.
Excel exports sit alongside them, so a manager who wants to look into a number can do it without raising a request. Job cards, order acknowledgements and production documents were reworked too, so every department sees information the same way.
Why we extended it
Modernising doesn’t always mean replacing. Bolt & Nut’s system already held its workflows and years of knowledge about how the factory runs. Building on it kept all of that, and targeted the specific gaps that were costing time.
What changed
Production teams can see live work. Data is more complete because it’s captured when the work happens. Stock control is better, audits are easier, and the reports come straight from the system, with far less manual work behind them.
